IOWA QUILTERS GUILD

Time Savers

*Use a thick placemat to make a template for cutting pattern pieces.  Computer print your pattern pieces on sticker paper, stick them on the placemat, cut out and you have a cheap, very stiff template.  I bought the placemat the Wal-Mart in the craft department for about $1.00.  It worked GREAT!

*In determining what size squares you need to cut to make multiple triangle squares, multiply the desired finished size of the triangle-square by two, the add 1 3/4".  For example:  to make a finished triangle-square that is 2 1/2" square, use 6 3/4" squares.

*To store your cutting mats, use skirt hangers with clamps to hang them up.

*Tired of chasing that foot pedal all over the floor?  Put an old mouse pad on the floor under the pedal and it stays put!
