BANQUET WITH LECTURE BY BETTY LENZ The show banquet is planned for Friday evening at 6:30 and will be held at the First United Methodist Church located at 1100 – 3rd St. in downtown Perry. The meal will be provided by local cater, Lana Keenan, and will include chicken breasts on a bed of rice, glazed carrots, romaine lettuce salad, a chocolate mousse desert and beverage. After the banquet, Betty Lenz will provide a lecture on crazy quilts, a new avenue she has been exploring. Betty is from Marshall, MO and has been quilting for many years. She began teaching on a local level in the early 1980’s as was co-founder of the Country Patchwork Quilters Guild in Marshal in 1988. She considers herself a quilter-artist and designer and enjoys competing in many of the national-level quilt shows. Betty has won numerous ribbons including 5 at Paducah, the Best of Show awards at the PA National show and the MN state show, the Robert S. Cohen Master Award for Traditional Artistry at Houston and a Best Workmanship award at the Quilters Heritage show in Lancaster PA. In addition, her quilt named “In the Beauty of the Lilies” was a finalist in the contest to find the 20th Century’s 100 Best American Quilts. Betty has also been published in numerous publications including Quilters Newsletter Magazine, American Patchwork & Quilting, American Quilter and the AQS wall and engagement calendars. More recently Betty’s interest in quilts has led her crazy quilting. The committee has diligently tried to keep expense in mind, but with rental, cater, janitorial, decorations, lecture and travel expenses, we have decided the banquet fee needs to be set at $25 to try and cover all the areas. Please register for the banquet on the event registration form We will have a pleasant evening with a good meal followed by viewing Betty’s slide show and some of her beautiful quilts. What more could a quilter desire?
