Sewing Fields of Quilts Free Show Activities

In addition to the beautiful quilts, vendor booths, the silent auction, fabric dive and magazine/book sales, there will be several other events occurring during show days. Again for this show, mini-demonstrations will be given for 1 ½ hours each day, Friday AM from 10:00 to 11:30 and again Saturday PM from 1:30 to 3:00. Show attendees will be able to browse the mini demo station area and pick up some quilting tips (there will also be patterns/books for sale by some of the area publishers providing demos). As the list below indicates, there is a need for several more demonstrators on Saturday. Please contact Wilma Aldrich, the mini-demonstration coordinator, and volunteer. Phone 641-853-239. Also, there will be two presentations given once each day. Our own certified quilt judge, Jennifer Perkins, has agreed to talk about what a judge looks for as he/she evaluates quilts. Her lecture is entitled “Through a Judge’s Eyes” and will be given Friday afternoon and again Saturday morning. We feel fortunate to have another presentation that will be given by Karan Flanscha and/or Robin Venter, both life members of the guild. They have given this presentation, Iowa-Selected Quilters of Influence, at several other venues and the message has been relayed that it is very interesting and also includes significant information about the Iowa Quilters Guild. Plan your show visit so you will have time to participate in these free show events. See the quilt show schedule for times
